Pentwyn-mawr High Street closed and 999 services at scene - latest updates

Emergency services are on the scene this morning following a road traffic collision on one of the main routes into Newbridge.

High Street in Pentwyn-mawr has been closed. Police say diversions have been put in place but are warning that they could cause congestion. They are urging road users to avoid the area and seek out alternative routes.

Google Maps showed slow-moving traffic on the road at around 1am on Sunday particularly around its junctions with Station Street and Fox Avenue and opposite the pubs Cwtchers and The Three Horseshoes Inn.

A tweet from Gwent Police at 12.24am read: "Emergency services are dealing with a road traffic collision on the High Street Pentwyn-mawr. The road is closed and diversions are in place, which may cause congestion. Please avoid the area if possible and find alternative routes for your journey. Take care."
