Peel Green '24-hour scene' after revolver, ammo and drugs seized

Police have begun their second day on an Eccles street after discovering a gun, ammunition and drugs. Officers are at the scene on Gorton Street, in Peel Green, this morning (April 20).

Police have been searching a property after initially carrying out a stop-search when a car was 'driven erratically' in Worsley. A man and a woman, both aged 36, have been arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm, drugs offences, and child neglect.

A police scene remains on the street. Eyewitnesses reported seeing a large emergency services presence at the scene yesterday.

Forensics officers and tactical aid unit vans were reportedly in attendance. Ambulances and firefighters were also seen in attendance.

Greater Manchester Police says a scene will be in place for 24 hours. Items which can be used to manufacture firearms and ammunition, as well as drug paraphernalia, have also been seized.
