Paul Scholes makes Man Utd demand that is perfect for Wolves

Paul Scholes wants Manchester United to finish below Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League.

United, who officially confirmed Erik ten Hag as their new manager earlier today, are currently sixth in the Premier League following their 4-0 defeat to Liverpool on Tuesday. Having played a game more than Tottenham and Arsenal, sixth-placed United stand little chance of reaching the Champions League this season.

Ralf Rangnick and his players are now fighting it out with West Ham United and Wolves - seventh and eighth respectively - to finish in the final Europa League spot before ten Hag arrives at Old Trafford in July. United’s most recent trophy is the 2016/17 Europa League, which they won in Jose Mourinho’s first season in charge.

But United legend Scholes wants his former club to end the season in eighth. Posting on his Instagram story, Scholes said: “Finish eighth and give this man the time he needs... saddened by what's happening, unrecognisable football club.”

By finishing in eighth spot, United will miss out on the Europa League and the Europa Conference League, which means ten Hag can focus solely on domestic football. Wolves are three points behind West Ham, and five behind United, with a game-in-hand on both of their European rivals.
