Paul Robinson makes Spurs “bargain” claim regarding reported fee for Middlesbrough star

Former Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Paul Robinson has claimed that the club will be getting a bargain if they sign Middlesbrough’s Djed Spence for £15 million pounds.

Football Insider state that Boro are said to want at least £15 million for the in-demand wing-back, and when that figure was put to Robinson, he said he was surprised the 21-year-old was going for that cheap.

“It is nothing in today’s market.” Robinson told Football Insider.

“When you look at his age and the quality and potential the player has got £15million would be a bargain. It is not a gamble for that type of money.

“I’m surprised he is going to go for that cheaply. If Spurs can get that one over the line it would be great. Spence is an exciting young talent.

“We will see if he goes straight into the starting XI or not. You expect that he would be given his opportunity at some point.”

Spence was a key player for Nottingham Forest in the Championship this season as they won promotion to the Premier League.

Joining the Reds on loan from Middlesbrough, Spence appeared 50 times in all competitions for the City Ground outfit throughout the 2021/22 campaign.

Upon his return to parent club Middlesbrough this summer, it is highly expected that he will leave this summer.

£15 million pounds for a player of Djed Spence’s ability is a bargain, especially when you consider his potential to improve going forwards.

Not to mention that Middlesbrough could likely get a bidding war going for the 21-year-old, with several clubs having been linked with a move for him throughout the season.

In fact, I do think Spence will go for closer to £20 million pounds this summer, as opposed to the £15 million mentioned above.

Only time will
