Paul Pogba's home broken into during Manchester United defeat to Atletico while children slept

Paul Pogba has confirmed that there was a break-in at his home while he was playing for Manchester United in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

Having been made to settle for a place on the bench at Old Trafford, the World Cup winner was powerless to help United when he was eventually summoned for the final 23 minutes against Atletico Madrid. As a result, United were eliminated from the marquee European competition.

As the action played out, meanwhile, there was a break-in at the Pogba home while his young family were sleeping. The player has since taken to social media asking for help.

Pogba has posted a statement on his Twitter profile. It reads: "Last night our family's worst nightmare was realised when our home was broken into and burglarised while our babies were sleeping in their bedroom.

"The burglars were in our home for less than five minutes, but in that time they took something more valuable than anything we had in our home... our sense of safety and security.
