Paul Pogba rant has made Erik ten Hag's Manchester United task this summer a little easier

By now, most Manchester United fans will have read about Paul Pogba’s audacious promise that he will 'show other clubs that Manchester had made a mistake' in not retaining his services.

He made the pledge during his new documentary - ‘Pogmentary’ - that comes out on Amazon Prime this Friday. In it, he also said United had offered him 'nothing' when they tabled a £300,000-a-week renewal offer - a £10,000 weekly raise.

It proves that Graeme Souness and the like were indeed correct about Pogba’s attitude. United fans had also seen this for a while, and at the end of his stay showed their displeasure through expletive jeers in April’s win over Norwich.

While more supporters will now be telling him to ‘**** off’ after his latest comments, Erik ten Hag can take confidence from his tantrum. Supporters have been worried that United’s failure to secure a top-four spot last season would hamper them in the transfer market.

Said worry has only increased after seeing Manchester City secure Erling Haaland and Liverpool recruit Darwin Nunez, while Tottenham and Arsenal have also done business. But they and Ten Hag have now been given an insight into how players still view United, despite their miserable season, through Pogba.

The World Cup winner’s desire to get 'payback' on the club because they 'made a mistake' by not offering him a more lucrative contract actually infers that he still wanted to stay at Old Trafford, albeit in quite an immature and indirect way.
