Paul Heckingbottom heaps praise on Sheffield United player

Sheffield United boss Paul Heckingbottom has told Yorkshire Live that he was really pleased with the way George Baldock played on the left hand side of defence.

The natural right back was deployed on the left hand side for the Blades’ recent game against West Bromwich Albion and certainly excelled as he helped his side to a 2-0 win.

As has been the case for much of the campaign so far, Sheffield United have usually lined up with either Baldock or fellow full back Jayden Bogle in the team, but now it appears that the manager has found a method of accommodating both from the start of the game.

Reflecting on his decision to deploy the former MK Dons man on the left hand side, Heckingbottom made the following comment:

“He’s been one who has had to be patient but he’s stepped up and had two big moments in the game.”

Baldock has been in and out of the team since Heckingbottom got the job and will now be looking to re-establish himself as a regular starter.

The defender has also found himself linked with a move away from Bramall Lane on more than one occasion.

The Verdict

Baldock is one of the best attacking outlets that the Blades have at their disposal, so therefore it is no surprise that he affects a game well when he is in the starting eleven.

He is a full back who always takes every opportunity to get forward and it is for that reason that he always seems to come up with a goal or an assist.

Heckingbottom could well keep him at left back after his impressive display and it would be something that works well as it helps to keep Baldock and Bogle in the team.

Sometimes there are solutions to be found when you try the unexpected and that is what the Sheffield United manager has done.
