Paul Gascoigne scores emotional goal in Rangers Legends match against Kaka and Luis Figo

Paul Gascoigne made an emotional return to Ibrox on Saturday afternoon to celebrate Rangers' 150th anniversary. The England icon played for the Glasgow club in a legends match against an all-star team, which included Ballon d'Or winners Luis Figo and Kaka.

Captain Figo's all-stars won the game 3-2 thanks to goals from Carlos Marchena, Nuno Gomes and Ricardo Quaresma - who still plays professionally for Vitoria Guimaraes. Rangers took the lead when Hull manager Shota Arverladze scored an excellent header.

The all-stars were heading for a 3-1 win until Gascoigne made his mark. The 54-year-old, who played for Rangers between 1995 and 1998, was brought on with just a few minutes remaining for a brief cameo, receiving a wonderful reception from the Ibrox faithful.

Gascoigne scored when Nacho Novo produced a neat ball into the middle. The midfielder initially fluffed his lines but was allowed another bite of the cherry. David James let his second effort cross the line, creating an emotional moment in Glasgow.

The biggest cheer of the afternoon was heard at Ibrox, as the 57-cap international was mobbed by his team-mates and several members of the opposition. Gascoigne was then named Man of the Match, capping off a wonderful afternoon for the icon.

Almost 40,000 fans attended Saturday's legends match. Rangers were managed by their former boss Alex McLeish, who won two Scottish Premiership titles, two Scottish Cups and three Scottish League Cups between 2001 and 2006.

Rangers' team included current boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst, as well as Jorg Albertz, Barry Ferguson, Ronald De Boer, Kris Boyd, Alan Hutton, Nikica Jelavic, Pedro Mendes, Michael Mols, Alex Rae, Gregory Vignal, Rod Wallace, Craig Moore and Neil Alexander.
