Paul Butler makes 'spicy' John Riel Casimero comment as Liverpool title fight confirmed

Paul Butler is counting down the days until his title bout against John Riel Casimero, which is set to take place in Liverpool on April 22nd.

The 33-year-old boxer will go toe-to-toe with the WBO Bantamweight champion at the M&S Bank Arena, in what he hopes will be the first bout of a year that brings more activity.

Butler last fought in June last year and has taken to the ring just twice in the past two years, frustratingly seeing a fight with Casimero in December collapse after his opponent failed to make weight.

Winning the title will be the first step on the journey to Butler's plans in 2022 and he's confident of his chances in the encounter.

“I’m sure that is what every boxer wants, if a fighter out there had eight fights in one year, he’d say he’d love one or two more," the Probellum fighter exclusively told the

"Everyone wants to be active, I’m 33, I want to be active, we’ve had two and a half years of Covid but this is the year that I definitely want to be active quite a bit and get my name out there.

"A title is what I’m striving towards, it’s what gets you through the hard days. Having my hand raised in April, that’s something I feel should have happened in December. It’s just a waiting game now."

The collapse of the fight in December, where Casimero missed weight, was a major set-back for Butler but it could now have played into his hands, he admits.
