Parrott on song as MK Dons push for promotion
Troy Parrott was among the goals as MK Dons moved into the top two in League One for the first time this season after a 2-1 win over rock-bottom Crewe at Stadium MK.
The Republic of Ireland striker set the Dons on their way to an eighth win in nine matches before international team-mate Conor Coventry doubled the lead before half-time, leapfrogging Liam Manning's men above Rotherham into the top two.
Spurs loanee Parrott was the beneficiary of a sublime pass from Dean Lewington which he controlled and lifted over helpless Alex keeper Dave Richards, before Coventry made it 2-0 when he glided through the Crewe midfield and slammed home his first Dons goal.
Fellow Ireland striker Will Keane was also among the goals as table-toppers Wigan Athletic beat Accrington Stanley 3-0.
Wigan regained leadership of the table for the first time since January in emphatic style as Keane sealed the win to make it 3-0, following up to tap home after Accrington goalkeeper Toby Savin dropped a free-kick at his feet.
Elsewhere, Kieran Sadlier's penalty with 14 minutes left gave Bolton a 1-1 draw at home against Portsmouth, who had gone in front five minutes into the second half through Aiden O’Brien.
