Parklife Festival divides fans who claim line-up is missing major band

Parklife fans are divided over the line-up for the festival, set to take place in Manchester later this year.

While some were celebrating the choice of headliners performing at Heaton Park this summer, others say a huge omission has been made and that the festival is now catering to "TikTok ravers." Parklife Festival confirmed Charli XCX, 50 Cent, and Jorja Smith would headline the event on June 14 and June 15. The festival will also boast appearances from Lola Young, Confidence Man, and Rudimental.

But not everyone was excited for the stacked line-up and suggested it was catering to a crowd of younger music-lovers whose favourite tracks were popularised on social media. While some suggested Young was the "standout" of the festival, others were left wondering if an appearance from one band in particular was possible.

One user suggested the choice of 50 Cent as a headliner was questionable as they did not believe he had the level of popularity necessary to top the bill of a UK festival anymore. One wrote: "50 Cent headlining in the year 2025 is CRAZY." Another asked: "50 got UK clout like that?"

Some were more focused on what was not listed as part of the line-up than anything else. Fans are still calling for The 1975 to appear at the festival. A reply to the line-up announcement reads: "2 years ago, The 1975 headlined Manchester’s Parklife Festival in June." Attached was a photo of that year's line-up, featuring Fred Again, The Prodigy and Little Simz alongside the Matty Healy-fronted group.
