Parking firm labelled 'dreadful' after issuing £100 fines to people who already paid to park

People have spoken out against a 'dreadful' parking firm after it issued £100 fines to motorists who already paid for a parking ticket.

Several drivers reported issues at the Market Shopping Centre car park, Crewe, over the last few months. Town centre worker Susan Robinson, who used the car park for several years said she recently received two £100 parking fines despite paying the necessary parking tariff.

Despite successfully appealing against the fines, she has raised concerns that other motorists may not keep hold of their tickets and will therefore be unable to prove they paid. The 48-year-old added: "I've been parking there for years so it's not that suddenly the rules have changed. I think it's naughty.

"I was lucky I kept my tickets but I'm concerned other people won't. After I appealed I received an email telling me the matter was over but with no apology.

In fact the email sounded like I was still at fault! I've actually stopped parking there now - it's not worth the risk. I just want people to be aware of what's happening and make sure they keep hold of their tickets.

"This has also happened to a colleague of mine so I know it's not just me."

The Crewe Tv community Facebook page has similarly seen such incidents being reported. One person said they're daughter was wrongly slapped with a ticket despite paying for a two-hour stay and leaving after only half an hour.

Speaking to Cheshire Live, they confirmed their daughter used the car park on April 10 and received the fine in the pos two weeks later - they are now appealing against the penalty. Another woman said she was issued a fine and was currently challenging it.
