Paris 2024: Richael Timothy finished 12th in C1-3 Individual TT

Ireland's Richael Timothy finished 12th in the women's C1-3 Individual Time Trial event at the 2024 Paralympics in Paris.

On a day where cycling takes the centre stage for Irish competitors, Timothy was first out and started confidently on the French roads.

Coming through the first 5.8k marker in 13th place, Timothy increased her pace towards the end of the 14.1k course and crossed the finish line in a time of 24:32.40, overtaking Australia's Amanda Reid to take 12th place.

Germany's Maike Hausberger won the gold medal in 21:30.45 with Great Britain's Frances Brown claiming silver as she finished +15.73 behind. The bronze went to Anna Beck of Sweden.

Waterford cyclist Damian Vereker is next up for Ireland as he competes in the B Individual Time Trial alongside pilot Mitchell McLaughlin. The pair finished ninth in the time trial at the 2023 UCI Para-cycling Road World Championships.

Shortly after 1pm, former World Champion Ronan Grimes gets going in the C4 International Time Trial.

The Galway man enjoyed a famously stellar 2022, winning gold at the World Championships in Canada in August, three months after collecting European gold in Austria.

Decorated duo Katie-George Dunleavy and Eve McCrystal are separated tomorrow, with Dunleavy being piloted by Linda Kelly while McCrysal pilots Josephine Healion in the B Time Trial.
