Paris 2024 qualifiers: Super Falcons hold Cameroon to goalless draw
Super Falcons of Nigeria held Cameroon’s Indomitable Lionesses to a 0-0 draw in Douala, in the first leg of the Paris 2024 Olympic qualifiers on Friday.
The Falcons are targeting a first Olympic appearance since Beijing 2008.
Since the 2008 games, the former African champions have missed three consecutive editions (2012, 2016, 2020).
Friday’s game against Cameroon saw the return of head coach Randy Waldrum and Ashleigh Plumptre.
Jennifer Echegini had the ball in the back of the net only for the referee to rule it out for offside.
The return leg comes up on Monday, 26 February in Abuja.
The winner between the Falcons and Cameroon will face either South Africa or Tanzania.
