Panthers land Giroux in deal involving Tippett
The Philadelphia Flyers have traded forward Claude Giroux to the Flordia Panthers in a deal that includes Owen Tippett, according to TSN Hockey insider Chris Johnston.
The Hearst, Ontario, native has spent his entire 15-year career with the Flyers, tallying a career-high 34 goals and 102 points in the 2017-18 season. Named captain of the Flyers prior to the 2012-2013 campaign, he was the longest-serving captain on franchise history.
Drafted 22nd overall by Philadephia in 2006, Giroux carries an $8.275 million cap hit this season and will become an unrestricted free agent in July.
