Phillips went berserk during the fag end of New Zealand's innings, smashing 106* off just 74 balls after skipper Mitchell Santner opted to bat at the newly-renovated Gaddafi Stadium. Daryl Mitchell was denied his century by Abrar Ahmed, who had him caught at midwicket on a score of 81. South Africa is the third team in the event, seen as a warm-up for the eight-nation Champions Trophy in Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates from February 19.
