Páirc Uí Chaoimh to strike historic naming rights deal with SuperValu

A naming rights deal for Páirc Uí Chaoimh could be presented to Cork County Board delegates as early as tomorrow evening.

It has been reported by the Irish Examiner that retail giants SuperValu will assume the first naming rights for the iconic Leeside stadium.

The venue is one of the association's landmarks, named after former GAA director general Pádraig Ó Caoimh who led the GAA for 35 years.

The Irish Examiner also reports that three other companies will assume stadium branding privileges.

It is understood that the package for these rights will be for an initial three years for a reported €1m up to 2026.

No concerts were staged at the venue last year and Páirc Uí Chaoimh’s debt stands at over €30m primarily.

"Crippling energy costs, along with fixed charges such as rates present major obstacles. Current stadium debt levels, now resting at over €30m, continue to present a major challenge," said Cork GAA CEO Kevin O’Donovan in his annual report last month.

"2024 will see the return of rugby and concerts to the stadium as it seeks to fulfil a municipal agenda. Such high scale and indeed expensive physical assets simply must be utilised at every part possible opportunity and as we do not have access to a sufficient number of games in our own association, we must look elsewhere at every opportunity."

It has been reported that the new naming rights deal will be worth between €250,000 and €300,000 a year to Cork GAA.
