Padraig Harrington slips back as Patrick Rodgers moves clear in Texas

American Patrick Rodgers on 11-under leads the field by three shots at the weather-delayed Valero Texas Open after a second round where Padraig Harrington slipped down the field.

Harrington, who carded a superb opening round 68 at TPC San Antonio, found things more difficult on Friday after playing 16 holes. The Dubliner started the day with a bogey on the par-four opening hole, but made birdies on three and eight before dropping more shots at nine, 12, 13 and 16. A third birdie did come on 14. Harrington currently stands at two over and will complete his second round from 1.40pm (Irish time).

After the first round had to be completed Friday morning following a three-hour fog delay Thursday, 46 players were still on the course when darkness fell and the horn sounded.

Rodgers was even par through 12 holes of his second round before finishing with a cascade of birdies - five over the final six. That earned him a five-under 67 following a 66, good for a three-shot lead over Corey Conners of Canada (second-round 72) and Roberto Diaz of Mexico (four under after 10).

Rodgers, 30, has never won on tour and entered the week No. 143 in the official world golf ranking.

Tied for fourth at seven under under were Michael Thompson (second-round 68) and Brendon Todd (five under aftert 15). Eric Cole and Belgium's Thomas Detry eachs hot second-round 67s to share sixth place at six under with Matt Kuchar (70).
