Padraic Joyce set for three more years with Tribesmen
Padraic Joyce will be back for another three years with Galway after he was proposed for a new term by the county board management tonight.
This year, Joyce led the Tribesmen to their first All-Ireland SFC final appearance since he and his then team-mates beat Meath in 2001. Galway lost the 2022 decider by four points to Kerry.
Joyce's side lost back-to-back Connacht finals to Mayo in his first two campaigns in charge, when Covid ensured there were no qualifiers.
However, Galway gained their revenge in this year's provincial quarter-final and beat Leitrim, Roscommon, Armagh and Derry before falling just short on the big day.
The Westerners will play in Division 1 of the Allianz Football League next season after winning promotion.
Joyce and his backroom team are expected to be confirmed by a full meeting of the county board on Monday.
Donal Ó Fátharta and Alan Glynn have been given one-year extensions as U20 and minor football managers respectively.
