Paddy Pimblett will be 'fuming' if UFC London fight goes past the first round

UFC fighter Paddy Pimblett has revealed he’ll be disappointed if his fight against Kazula Vargas at UFC London gets out of the first round.

Ever since signing with the Ultimate Fighting Championship last year, Paddy Pimblett has been one of the most talked-about newcomers in the promotion. From his confidence in interviews to his unique personality and beyond, the 27-year-old sure knows how to put on a show.

His debut came in September 2021 and before the end of the first five minutes, he managed to put Luigi Vendramini away to take his pro MMA record to 17-3.

The win helped bring even more visibility to his brand and as we look ahead to this weekend, he’ll almost certainly be bringing the heat as one of the biggest names on the card when UFC returns to London.

During a recent interview with BT Sport, Pimblett spoke candidly about his expectations when he takes on Rodrigo Vargas – aka Kazula Vargas – on Saturday.

“All I know is I’m getting in this cage and beating this Mexican up, lad. For half a round before the referee stops it or he goes to sleep. First round. He does not get out of the first round. If he gets out of the first round I’ll be highly disappointed in myself. I will. I’ll be fuming.”

For the first time in three years, the UFC will be putting on an event in Europe. Prior to the pandemic it was pretty common for them to visit London every March but after so long away, you can bet they’ll want to put on a real show at the O2 on the 19th.

‘The Baddy’ won’t serve as the main event fighter on the card with that spot instead being reserved for Tom Aspinall and Alexander Volkov. The pair will collide in a heavyweight contest that could give the victor a real boost in their pursuit of the gold.
