Paddy Pimblett: Sean O'Malley explains friendship with UFC colleague

UFC bantamweight Sean O’Malley has explained his admiration for Paddy Pimblett as well as what’s behind their blossoming friendship.

Over the course of the last few years we’ve seen Sean O’Malley become one of the most talked-about fighters in all of mixed martial arts. The man known as ‘Suga’ has, in the eye of many, the potential to become the next breakout star in the sport – even though he’s in one of the promotion’s toughest divisions.

He’s had a few setbacks but O’Malley certainly has what it takes to be a real needle mover for the UFC for as long as he decides to compete.

Another man who falls into that category is none other than Paddy Pimblett. The Liverpudlian burst onto the scene upon signing with the UFC last year and ever since then, he hasn’t exactly been shy when putting himself out there for the world to see.

Following UFC London last month, UFC president Dana White actually compared the rise of ‘The Baddy’ to O’Malley. In a recent interview with The Schmo, the 27-year-old gave his thoughts on how the lightweight prospect is doing.

“Paddy is doing a great job of marketing himself. He’s got two fights, two finishes. I think he’s doing a great job. I’ve had eight fights, nine fights, I don’t remember. I’ve had a lot more fights and he’s got a good following already, so I think he’s doing a good job.

“We’re buds because he’s raided me on Twitch and I’ve hosted him on Twitch, so, we’re buds I guess. That’s just how that works.”

Given how good they both are in and out of the cage, it may not be too long before we see them on a card together.
