'Pack of crisps' - Barcelona fans wade in as Philippe Coutinho completes Aston Villa transfer

Barcelona fans have been reacting to the news that Philippe Coutinho has joined Aston Villa on a permanent transfer.

The Brazilian playmaker joined the Villans on loan in January with the Catalan club desperate to make space on the wage bill. He will now move to Villa Park for around £17 million after both clubs announced the deal on Thursday.

His £132m transfer from Liverpool four-and-a-half years ago was a massive bust for Barcelona, although he did win two La Liga titles and two domestic cups during his time at the Nou Camp. He did not make the impact expected, though, and leaves with a legacy of unfulfillment.

While some Barça fans have labelled Coutinho as the "worst signing" in the club's history, many have wished him well in his future endeavours now that he's back in the Premier League. There was a general tinge of sadness to many of the reactions at having never seen the very best of a clearly wonderfully talented football.

Glad to have him of the wage bill and glad for Coutinho on a personal level. He's such a elite player and one I've always admired but we drastically overpaid for him without having a plan for him at Barça. It's a shame things went sour but I wish him the best at Aston Villa.
