Pablo Fornals praised for 'very important' role at West Ham

Pablo Fornals is “very important” to West Ham and is a good character, says journalist Paul Brown.

The 26-year-old has been a key player for West Ham this season, helping the club push for a Champions League spot.

Fornals, who arrived at the London Stadium from Villarreal in a £24m deal, will be pretty pleased with how the current campaign is going for both him and the Hammers.

The attacking midfielder has missed just two league games for West Ham so far, meaning he has played 24 times this term.

Across those appearances, Fornals has scored five goals to help David Moyes’ men to climb to fifth in the Premier League table.

It means the Spaniard has already matched his tally from last season and surpassed his total from the 2019/20 campaign, where he registered just twice, showing his improvement.

The former Villarreal man, however, knows he and his team-mates all need to do better, saying as much after the recent 1-1 draw with Newcastle United.

“He made the goal at Kidderminster with a pass for Declan Rice, I thought the other night [during the win over Watford] he was more influential in bits of the game, especially later on,” the Scotsman was quoted as saying
