Over 500,000 Dislikes! WWE Video Featuring The Rock Faces Major Backlash

The Rock stunned the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) fans by appearing on the February 3 episode of SmackDown where he hinted at a possible WrestleMania 40 match against reigning Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns. It was a big surprise for the spectators as Reigns was expected to face Cody Rhodes - the winner of the Royal Rumble 2024. While the return of a big superstar like The Rock was a massive development, it was not received well by a section of the wrestling fans. The video of the segment featuring The Rock and Roman Reigns already has over 500,000 dislikes on social media which made it the most disliked video ever in the company's history.

Fans have been extremely vocal about the change in plans and a number of them took to social media to voice their support for Cody Rhodes - someone who enjoys a massive fanbase at the moment.

The fan reaction has come as a major issue for the company which is already battling a lot of bad publicity due to the controversies surrounding Vince McMahon. WWE co-founder McMahon quit the company and its parent body, TKO Group Holdings, after being accused of sex trafficking and rape.

Media reports suggested that Rhodes and Reigns were supposed to face each other in WrestleMania 40 while CM Punk was supposed to main-event Day 1 of the show with a match against World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins. However, an injury to Punk seems to have changed WWE's plans.

During the SmackDown episode, Rock came out to have a short face-off with Reigns and indicated that the two of them can be facing in a high-voltage WrestleMania 40 match. However, considering the Elimination Chamber will take place in Australia, the match can also be used on that event.
