Out with Mngqithi, in with Miguel: Mamelodi Sundowns announce Portuguese head coach

Mamelodi Sundowns have officially appointed Miguel Cardoso as their new head coach, ushering in a new era for the Tshwane giants.

The Portuguese tactician, who last managed Espérance de Tunis (or ES Tunis), brings with him a wealth of experience and a tactical approach that makes him well-suited to lead the club into the future.

The 52-year-old will have the task of ensuring Sundowns maintain their dominance in South African football, while also advancing their continental ambitions.

The change in leadership comes after Sundowns' performances fell below the club's high standards under Manqoba Mngqithi, prompting a shift in management's direction.

Alongside Mngqithi, Wendell Robinson and Romain Folz have all parted ways with the club.

Mngqithi's departure marks the end of an era at the club.

He first arrived at Chloorkop in February 2014 from Golden Arrows, joining Pitso Mosimane's coaching staff as an assistant.

This led to a shift in strategy and the club's decision to part ways with Mngqithi.

Assistant coach Robinson, who served the club for an impressive 12 years, also leaves the team.

Additionally, Romain Folz, who was brought in at the beginning of the season, departs after a brief stint with the club.

Meanwhile, Kennedy Mweene and Steve Komphela will
