Ousmane Dembele weighs up Chelsea move after Barcelona’s reduced offer
Ousmane Dembele is set to make a final decision between joining Chelsea or staying at Barcelona, according to reports.
The winger’s contract with the Spanish club expires in two days and he is yet to reach an agreement over a new deal.
Dembele’s agent, Moussa Sissoko, held talks with Barcelona’s hierarchy on Monday but the Spanish club are still refusing to meet the 25-year-old’s salary demands.
According to L’Equipe, Dembele has been offered a contract worth €6 million (£5.1m) a year, which is a drastic reduction on his current deal worth €11m (£9.5m) a year.
The report claims that Dembele is now seriously considering a rival offer from Chelsea, who want to make the winger one of their first marquee signings following the club’s change in ownership.
Thomas Tuchel is also said to have remained a huge fan of Dembele having already managed the French winger during their time together at Borussia Dortmund.
Dembele started just 15 games in La Liga last season due to injury and has been hampered by fitness issues since joining Barca from Dortmund in a £135.5m deal in 2017.
But despite his struggles, it’s understood that Xavi is keen for Dembele to extend his stay at Camp Nou.
