Ospreys overpower Ulster to claim stunning victory
The Ospreys overpowered Ulster to claim an impressive 21-10 at the Brewery Field, boosting their United Rugby Championship play-off hopes.
Mark Jones' side is undefeated in their last five URC fixtures, a huge credit to the players and coaches given the uncertainty surrounding the Welsh clubs' future.
The Ospreys pack dominated the Irish province as they powered their way to within a point of the URC play-off places.
Tries from Cormac Foley, official player of the match James Ratti and Daniel Kasende along with six points from Jack Walsh's boot, got the Ospreys over the line.
All Ulster could muster was two tries courtesy of Zac Ward and Tom Stewart.
The Ospreys made a strong start with powerful carries from Ross Moriarty and Rhys Henry in the Ulster 22 before Foley sneaked over from short-range for a try which Walsh converted.
But Ulster hit straight back and an inch-perfect cross-kick from Doak found Ward on the edge who touched down for the try.
The visitors kept going and after setting up a driving lineout impressive hooker Stewart touched down for their second try to give Ulster a 10-7 lead at the interval.
The Ospreys dominated the vast majority of the second half, but it took them 69 minutes to break Ulster's resistance.
Time and time again the Ospreys found themselves camped on the Ulster line but whether it was an overthrown lineout or excellent defence from the visitors they could not get over the line.
But they finally got their noses back ahead when the replacement hooker Lewis Lloyd took a penalty quickly before a lovely switch pass from Reuben Morgan-Williams put Ratti over.
