Opinion: Veteran's influence on Celtic side can't be underestimated
With all the attacking skill that Celtic have shown in recent games. it shouldn’t be forgotten just how important that goalkeeper Joe Hart has been to the Hoops this season.
Not only in how he has played, but what he has meant to the club overall. Hart is the most experienced player in the side, he has been though many title battles, the likes of which are unknown to many in the Celtic squad, even captain Callum McGregor.
That could be key for the Hoops in the weeks to come. There are a lot of players in the Celtic squad who have not won trophies on a regular basis. Only the likes of Nir Bitton, James Forrest and the aforementioned McGregor have been at Celtic long enough to have regular success.
That is why an experienced player like Hart is always useful to have in your squad. He can give his knowhow on what it is like to when a league title, like he did whilst he was at Manchester City.
Hart has performed well for the Hoops this season. He has helped the Hoops obtain the best defensive record in the Premiership to far this season, and has kept 18 clean sheets in 36 games, which is a good record, with 13 of those clean sheets coming in the league, where he has conceded just 10 goals in 22 appearances, which is a great return.
It could be argued that Hart is one of Celtic’s best signings since Ange Postecoglou took over as manager. He has added the experience that is pivotal to a team that has many inexperienced players. It might have been a gamble to sign Hart due to his lack of football over the past few seasons, but it has paid off for the Hoops so far.
Whilst some Celtic fans are understandably getting very excited about the Hoops going top of the league and some of the performances that the team have put in
