Opinion: Three Celtic derby debutants that can lead the Hoops to glory

Celtic are likely to have some players making their Glasgow derby debut against Rangers at Celtic Park tonight. 

It will be interesting to see how the players handle the occasion. Some players have thrived in their first game against Rangers.

Two notable examples are Lubo Moravcik and Chris Sutton. Both players scored doubles in their first games against Rangers. 

Perhaps the most notable example of them all though is Moussa Dembele. The striker scored a very memorable hat-trick in his first game against the Ibrox side back in 2016, a feat that no Celtic player has managed to match since.

A Celtic player might not score a hat-trick against Rangers tonight, but there are three notable players who could have a memorable first Glasgow derby experience, and we shall take a look at the trio now.

Jota missed Celtic’s first Glasgow derby, as he had not yet joined the Hoops. After signing on loan from Benfica, he has become a key player for the side, and it is a real bonus for the Bhoys that he has overcome a hamstring issue to be available for the game.

Jota will likely have plenty of the ball, and he could be tasked with creating chances for the Hoops. 

Thankfully he has shown this season that he is more than capable of both creating and scoring goals for Celtic this season. He could be the match-winner for the Bhoys.

Hatate has only played three games for the Bhoys, but the Japanese midfielder already looks to be a very influential player for Celtic.

Hatate already has a man of the match award and goal to his name, and he will be vital to Celtic in winning the midfield battle. 

If Hatate can get a hold of the ball in the middle of the park and recycle it up the park, and keep the Bhoys ticking over, than he could help the
