Opinion: Fir Park display is blueprint for Celtic going forward

In just a few hours time, Celtic will kick off the team’s second away game in a week, against Aberdeen at Pittodrie.

It is an important game for the Hoops, as a win will keep Celtic at the top of the Premiership table. It will be intriguing to see how Celtic approach the game, which won’t be easy against an Aberdeen side that are desperate for points to try and get into the top six of the Premiership.

The Hoops should be looking to the first away game of the week as a blueprint to follow for the away games in the Premiership for the rest of the season.

The Bhoys played Motherwell at Fir Park in that first away game, and the game was over by half-time, as Ange Postecoglou’s side had cruised in a three goal lead. Celtic would eventually win the game 4-0.

What was most encouraging about Celtic’s performance was that the team was able to get the game won by half-time, and that allowed Ange Postecoglou to make two changes at the break, and give two of his most important players – Reo Hatate and Liel Abada – a rest, whilst giving other players a chance to make their case for a first-team start.

Celtic might not be three goals ahead at half-time in every away game, but the Hoops should be looking to score at least two goals against in the first-half against Aberdeen and try to replicate that going forward.

If Celtic can do that, then the Hoops are far more likely to win games than drop points for the remainder of the season.

Of course, the most important thing is that Celtic get the three points in every game, and a one goal win is just as valuable as a three goals win.

But getting games won
