Opinion: Disappointment for Celtic if reported transfer move goes through

It seems that a promising Celtic youngster is set to leave the club. The Athletic is reporting that 16-year-old winger Ben Doak is set to move on from Celtic Park and join Liverpool.

The report goes on to state that the Hoops will only receive ‘minor compensation’ from Doak’s exit as he had not signed a professional contract with the Hoops, and that even though Celtic were very keen for the player to stay, the starlet is enticed by the prospect of working with Jurgen Klopp.

Doak’s exit will be particularly disappointing for the Hoops as the player has featured for the Celtic first-team this season. 

He has made two first-team appearances for the Hoops, and in two big games as well, a match against Dundee United where the Bhoys were looking for a winning goal and the Glasgow derby.

Sadly though it seems that Doak won’t be featuring again for Celtic, as it looks like he is set to move to Anfield. In a way it is understandable that a player would want to move to Liverpool, as they are one of the best clubs in football at the moment.

But, you have to imagine that the player would get more first-team opportunities at Celtic than at Liverpool. However, Doak must be confident that he will do well enough at the Premier League side that he will make a breakthrough into the first-team.

Hopefully Doak is the last Celtic prospect that will leave the Hoops under the management of Ange Postecoglou. There have been a number of Hoops prospects that have left the club in recent years, Liam Morrison and Barry Hepburn joined Bayern Munich, whilst Josh Adam moved to Manchester City.
