Opinion: Celtic have made a mistake when it comes to ticket prices
Earlier this week, Celtic announced the pricing details for the Hoops’ upcoming friendlies at Celtic Park against Blackburn and Norwich.
The fixtures are the only games at home the Hoops will play before the start of the season, and the club announced that season ticket holders will be able to attend
Celtic also announced the prices for non-season ticket holders, and they are £16 for adults, £10 for concessions and £5 for children under 13.
It is when it comes to the prices for the non-season ticket holders that the club have made a mistake. Charging £16 for a friendly is a bit ridiculous really, especially when you consider that the games aren’t exactly glamour ties.
No disrespect meant to either Blackburn or Norwich, but the Hoops could have signed up bigger name teams for the two friendlies at Celtic Park.
The price of £5 for children under 13 is fine, there is no argument with that, but the Hoops should have considered making the rest of the tickets around £10, that would seem fair when you consider that a lot of people seem to be struggling financially at the moment.
Football fans seen to spend a lot of money at the moment, and that will be the case for any non-season ticket holder that wants to see Celtic’s new signings play in the friendlies at Celtic Park.
You can’t blame football clubs for wanting to make money, but there has to be some realism at times, and that doesn’t seem to have applied when it comes to how Celtic are pricing the friendlies.
