Oomph, that's a big one! Formula 1 crashes that left you gasping for air in 2022
We're seven rounds into the 2022 Formula 1 season, and there has been no shortage of action. Though some of the races could have been duller than others - we're looking at you, Monaco - there have been ample to write home about to keep our appetites wet.
While on the topic of Monaco, one of the big talking points has been Mick Schumacher's crash at the swimming pool section. The Haas driver lost control of his F1 car momentarily and spun out of the race. The impact was quite big, snatching the car in half. Fortunately for Schumacher, he walked away unscathed.
Schumacher's crash is one of a few that really made headlines in 2022 so far. Here are three other notable crashes from the season's opening seven races.
Special mention: Schumacher crashed his Haas during qualifying for the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.
Sebastian Vettel: Australia
Having missed the opening two races of the season due to contracting Covid-19, Sebastian Vettel returned to F1 at the third race of the season, the Australian GP. It wasn't an easy return for the four-time champion as he struggled to find the pace in his Aston Martin. However, he suffered even more during the race and struggled to handle the car.
Then on lap 24, Vettel suddenly crashed out of the race, his car coming to a stop on the side of the track. After the incident, the driver was quite defeated and informed his team that the car needed a serious upgrade.
Vettel has since gone on to score points in upcoming races.
