"One to watch" - Journalist drops surprise Southampton exit claim on Les Reed signing

Journalist Tom Barclay wouldn’t be surprised if Southampton cash in on Nathan Redmond if the right offer comes in this summer.

Redmond is currently in his sixth season with the club but will have just 12 months remaining on his contract at the end of this season.

There hasn’t been any concrete links with Redmond and other clubs, but Southampton will have a huge decision to make once this campaign finishes. He remains a key player under Ralph Hasenhuttl and has played more than 20 times in all competitions this season.

But with his deal running out in 2023, unless he opts to extend his stay, this summer will be the penultimate window that Southampton have the chance to get a fee for his services.

But Barclay reckons that if the price is right, Southampton could choose to sell the £16.2m-rated wide man in the next window.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “That’s one to watch. I don’t think they’ll be too desperate to let him go by any stretch. But I also wouldn’t be surprised if he did move on if the right offer came along.”

There’s a reason that he’s been a regular starter for more than five-and-a-half seasons despite failing to chip in with the goal contributions
