One-lap Superpole returns to BSB at Cadwell Park

A one-lap Superpole system will return to the Bennetts British Superbike series for the upcoming Pirelli Cadwell Park round over the August Bank Holiday weekend.

Series promoter MSVR has presented and agreed the one-off format change with the teams, designed to alleviate some of the challenges and peculiarities presented by the famous Lincolnshire venue.

The weekend qualifying format will kick off on Saturday with the standard BSB SUPERPICKS Free Practice sessions, both of 40 minutes duration. The top twelve overall from FP1/FP2 combined times will go directly into the Omologato Superpole starting list.

The remaining riders from P13 and above will take part in the fifteen-minute BSB SUPERPICKS Qualifying session, with the top three added to the final Omologato Superpole starting list of fifteen riders.

The first rider will be released from pit lane at 2pm, with successive riders being released at two minutes intervals for their out lap, flying lap and cool-down lap. The winner will receive a latest Omologato timepiece.

Fans on the main spectator bank will be able to follow the action on a big screen situated opposite, whilst those at home in the UK can watch on both QUEST (free-to-air), Eurosport 2 and Discovery+.

Explaining the format change, Bennetts BSB Series and Race Director Stuart Higgs said: “Cadwell Park is completely unique with its layout and challenges, which include two active pit lanes on different parts of the circuit.

“Qualifying 2 with the sharp end of the grid positions being decided represents a concentrated period of the fastest lap times of the weekend with typically 18 riders on track concurrently.
