ONE Championship 159: Lara Fernandez makes big claim ahead of event

ONE Championship 159 will be taking place on Friday, July 22nd from the Singapore Indoor Stadium and Lara Fernandez will be taking on Janet Todd for the Interim Atomweight Muay Thai World Championship in the co-main event.

This will be Fernandez’s debut fight in the promotion, and it’s a huge moment in her Muay Thai career with the major MMA promotion.

Fernandez has an impressive resume in the world of Muay Thai, and she will be looking to impress fans when she enters the ONE FC cage for the first time later this month.

Here is what Lara Fernandez had to say regarding her debut for ONE Championship at the ONE 159 event against Janet Todd.

Speaking to the ONE FC site ahead of her debut for the company, Fernandez claimed that she is on the level of the best Muay Thai competitors on the planet and that she believes she will go on to ‘defeat them all.’

“Signing with ONE Championship is like reaching the top of the sport. I am super happy, super excited. 

“My biggest dream was to be amongst the top fighters and, now that I am here, it’s a great motivation to keep going and someday beat them all. I work hard every day. I really believe I am at the same level now.”

Fernandez also discussed her previous title wins outside of the promotion, with the Spanish fighter having earned the ISKA Kickboxing World Title and the WBC Muay Thai World Title in 2020.

“It was incredible [to win my first World Title]. This was not in my natural division of 59 kilograms. I got there 3 kilos underweight, so I went on a diet to gain weight and I got the victory. I decided to take the challenge, and it was worth it.
