On-loan Kent all-rounder Joey Evison more familiar than most with Trent Bridge venue used for Royal London One-Day Cup final against Lancashire

On-loan Kent all-rounder Joey Evison will be more familiar than most with the venue for their Royal London One-Day Cup final.

Evison, 20, rejected a new contract from Nottinghamshire to stay at Trent Bridge - where the Spitfires’ final against Lancashire will be held this Saturday - and instead signed a three-year deal with Kent in July.

He has since linked up with Kent for this year’s one-day cup campaign on loan and hopes for an early piece of silverware.

“It’s going to feel weird, playing at Trent Bridge for a different team,” admitted Evison.

“But it’s going to be a good day and we are looking forward to it.

“It’s going to be a great occasion for the club and for everyone involved.

“Playing a final for your county is always exciting, but we are going into it with a lot of confidence which is good.

“The quarter-finals and semi-finals were good games of cricket and, hopefully, we can have another good one on Saturday.”

Evison has some experienced all-rounders to learn from with explosive duo Darren Stevens and Grant Stewart both doing their bit to get the Spitfires to the final.

“They have both really helped me in the last couple of weeks,” he said.

“I had never played at The Spitfire Ground before so there’s a slope which, when you are bowling from one end, makes it quite tricky. So speaking to all the bowlers, really, has been helpful.

“They [Stevens and Stewart] are both all-rounders so they are good to chat to about both aspects of the game.”
