Olympic champion Canada secures spot at Paris 2024 with win over Jamaica
Canada's women's soccer team will defend its Olympic title in Paris.
Cloé Lacasse and Jordyn Huitema scored in a 2-1 win over Jamaica at BMO Field in Toronto on Tuesday, securing Canada's ticket to France next summer.
Jamaica, the 37th-ranked nation which made a Cinderella run to the round of 16 at the Women's World Cup in August, was eliminated from Olympic contention with the loss.
After beating Jamaica 2-0 on the road on Friday, Canada held the advantage as the two-game series moved back north. It won 4-1 on aggregate.
Drew Spence netted Jamaica's lone goal.
The U.S. qualified directly for the Games by defeating Canada 1-0 in the CONCACAF W Championship final in 2022.
