Oleksandr Usyk vs Anthony Joshua 2: Ukrainian baffled by Carl Froch's 80,000 Wembley comment

Oleksandr Usyk was left utterly befuddled by Carl Froch during his latest press conference ahead of his highly anticipated rematch with Anthony Joshua on August 20 in Saudi Arabia.

Appearing in London on Wednesday for a media event to preview his first title defence, the WBA, IBF and WBO heavyweight world champion approached Froch during his interview with ProBoxingFans.

Froch made a name for himself back in 2014 when he ended his fighting career with a brilliant knockout win over George Groves in front of an audience of 80,000 fans at Wembley Stadium – a performance that has since become the punchline of an ongoing joke.

The following year Froch worked for Sky and talked to Floyd Mayweather ahead of his fight with Manny Pacquiao. It was during this chat that Froch took the time to tell Mayweather about the audience he had gathered at England’s national stadium. A fact that left the American seemingly unbothered causing the tidbit to become a running joke which has been brought up several times since.

Most recently, Froch was working for media outlets during Wednesday’s event when he was joined by Usyk, who asked him for a selfie.

As the pair finished posing together, Froch unleased his joke once more asking: “Do you know how many people I boxed in front of at Wembley Stadium?”
