Oleksandr Usyk’s promoter makes big statement on Anthony Joshua rematch

Oleksandr Usyk’s promoter has confirmed that talks are underway and a deal for the rematch with Anthony Joshua could be finalised in the next few weeks.

While the bout was said to be in jeopardy for quite some time as a result of the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine, it’s now been announced that Oleksandr Usyk has left his homeland in preparation for another showdown with Anthony Joshua.

The pair will battle it out over the WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and IBO heavyweight titles and while there’s no guarantee, we could wind up seeing a unification bout in the future with the winner possibly facing the victor of this month’s Tyson Fury vs Dillian Whyte fight.

Of course, before we get to all of that, the details first need to be ironed out for when and where this meeting is going to take place.

Alexander Krassyuk, the promoter of Oleksandr Usyk, had the following to say on the matter during an interview with Sky Sports.

“Within the next two weeks we expect to finalise details,” Krassyuk said.

“This location is under discussion at the moment.

“Late June is also the timing we are considering now.

“Many things will depend on how fast we manage to ink the papers. The good thing is that Usyk is already in Europe to start his preparation.”

A string of destinations have been pinpointed as possible hosting spots including the Middle East, England and more.
