Old Trafford revolution a necessity as shown by Manchester United matchday experience

Old Trafford is one of the most emblematic stadiums in world football due to its long-standing and rich history, but while this is what makes it a longstanding symbol of English football, it is also one of its major flaws. In recent years the stadium has fallen into disrepair and what was once considered iconic is now straying dangerously close to being considered outdated.

To this end, Manchester United are considering several options to revamp the ground, with even a complete rebuild being considered. This has split the fanbase, with some considering the ground the last real piece of United's history they have left after years of being gutted by the Glazer family.

For these people, the choice of refurbishment over rebuild is clear. Other fans have argued that regardless of what happens the spirit of the fanbase lives on whatever stadium the team plays in, so the club should make use of the land and space they have available alongside investments from the Glazers and move forward in creating a modern Old Trafford that is ready for the future.

As a match-going fan myself, plans of this nature have been long overdue and the match-day experience just highlights why there is such a serious consideration for a rebuild alongside a refurbishment. For a start, the car-parking situation is awful.

Though there is a lot of space to work with, the traffic flow after a game is horrendous, leading many fans to choose to take the tram in or, if they are driving, park 20-30 minutes away in Media-City to avoid being stuck for more than an hour after the final whistle.
