Okocha, Kanu, Amokachi to join world bests as African legends light up Lusaka

George Weah (left), Kalusha Bwalya, Okocha and Emmanuel Adebayor are among African legends listed for novelty reunion in Zambia… on December 2, 2023.

Three of Nigeria’s finest football exports will team up with some of the continent’s greatest-ever stars to turn back the hands of time in Zambia this weekend, reports soccernet.ng.

Nigerian greats Nwankwo Kanu, Austin Okocha, and Daniel Amokachi are among the African legends expected in Zambia on Saturday, December 2. Okocha is considered one of the most gifted players to have ever come out of Africa, while Amokachi helped Nigeria win gold at the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations and the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games.

Former Arsenal star, Kanu, is one of Nigeria’s most successful footballers in history, winning the UEFA Champions League and several Premier League and FA Cup titles.

The three Super Eagles heroes will form a core part of the African Legends that will go head-to-head with the Chipolopo Legends in a charity match to be played in Lusaka.

According to Zambia Football, former African Footballer of the Year and Zambian great, Kalusha Bwalya, will welcome Okocha, Kanu, and Amokachi. Former Arsenal and Tottenham forward, Emmanuel Adebayor and one-time Juventus midfielder, Stephen Appiah, are among the retired footballers expected at the meet.

South African hero, Mark Fish, Lucas Radebe, Siphiwe Tshabalala, Ghana’s World Cup legend, Asamoah Gyan, and Robert Kidiaba are also expected to grace the occasion. The clash between the African Legends and the Zambian Legends is scheduled to unfold at the National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka.
