Offer made: Liverpool launch pre-summer move for ‘sensational’ £36m-rated ‘standout' - report

Taking to Twitter, Barcelona journalist Gerard Romero has dropped a big update on Liverpool’s transfer plans for Catalans starlet Gavi.

The 17-year-old, widely regarded as one of the most promising talents in Europe right now, has no shortage of suitors with Camp Nou president Joan Laporta desperate to extend Gavi’s current contract.

His deal expires in 2023 as things stand, which would allow the Spanish sensation to leave as a free agent at the end of next season.

Big Premier League clubs are said to be monitoring his situation with the Reds, Chelsea and Manchester United all named by Mundo Deportivo.

Now, Romero claims Fenway Sports Group and the Anfield side have made a first move to sign Gavi – tabling a pre-summer proposal.

Liverpool have apparently put forward a salary of around €6 million-per-year (£5.4m) to the starlet as they seek to move in and take advantage of his contractual situation.

Sharing news on both defender Ronald Araujo and Gavi, Romero claims that Man United and Arsenal have made offers for personal terms to the former, while Liverpool has approached the latter man with their wage package.

There is no doubt the teenager would add a degree of composure to Jurgen Klopp’s midfield and it is little wonder the Reds are willing gift him a generous salary.

At just 17, Gavi has proved very frustrating to play against for rival defenders, attracting the second-most fouls per 90 on average out of Barcelona’s entire roster (WhoScored).

He’s also racked up the third-most La Liga assists in Xavi’s squad over 2021/2022 with Spanish top flight analyst and Sport Expressen reporter Marcus Bring calling Gavi ‘sensational’ and a ‘standout’ this season (Twitter).

The £36m-rated ace is definitely one to watch out for.
