Odell Beckham Jr. reclaims iconic No. 13 jersey with Giants - ESPN

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — New York Giants fans can pull those No. 13 jerseys out of the closet. They're officially back in circulation for star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.

After making the 53-man roster over the weekend, Beckham was back on the field Tuesday in his trademark No. 13. It just looked right.

Beckham wore No. 3, his high school and college number at LSU, throughout the spring and summer with the Giants. He reclaimed No. 13 on Tuesday from fellow wide receiver Jalin Hyatt, who is on the practice squad.

On Tuesday morning, Beckham posted an Instagram story of the No. 13 jersey with his name on the back sitting on his stool in the locker room. It was a full-circle moment.

Hyatt gave up the number without hesitation. It was always the plan assuming both receivers made it to this point and Beckham had a spot on the roster.

Hyatt was on the practice field Tuesday wearing No. 81.

It was known from the day that Beckham signed with the Giants in the spring this was the likely outcome. No. 3 was always a placeholder. That number was already being worn by second-year outside linebacker Abdul Carter.

Beckham said Monday there would be a «conversation» about returning to the number he wore during his first stint in New York from 2014 to 2018. He made three straight Pro Bowls to start his career while making the No. 13 Giants jersey famous.

«I think we all know what that means to me, and there definitely will be some conversations,» Beckham said. «I'll just say we'll see what happens, but like I said, it would be an honor and a privilege to put that back on.»
