‘October Fest’ thrills Air Peace staff, associates

Staff and associates of leading carrier, Air Peace, were in a joyous mood on October 20 when the airline held the final of its 10th anniversary sports competition tagged “October Fest.”

The October Fest, a football tournament featuring eight men’s teams and a novelty match for two women’s teams, kicked off on August 31 with the airline’s staff from various stations across the sub-Saharan region competing for glory while deepening bonds within the organization.

Among the competition men’s teams were BUU Shooters, BVE Rangers, BQQ Warriors, BUO Army, BWI Wanderers and BYJ Rovers, BXG Gunners, and BQV Invaders.
The two women’s teams at the festival were the BUJ Amazons and BYF Angels.

At the end of a pulsating encounter, BQQ Warriors defeated BXG Gunners on penalties in a dramatic final that ended 1-1 after regular time. The women’s category also delivered an equally exciting final, with BUJ Amazons beating BYF Angels also on penalties after a 1-1 score in regular time.
Among the dignitaries at the event were Air Peace’s CEO/Chairman, Dr. Allen Onyema, and members of the executive board and management.

Speaking on the competition, Dr. Onyema emphasised the significance of the October Fest as more than just a football tournament.  He said: “October Fest is a celebration of the resilience, dedication, and spirit of teamwork that has been the backbone of Air Peace over the last 10 years.

“This festival isn’t just about competition; it’s about bringing our Air Peace family together, recognising our shared achievements, and fostering the unity that continues to drive our success. This milestone serves as a reminder of how far we’ve come and the bright future ahead.”
