O.J. Simpson's cause of death announced

O.J. Simpson's cause of death has been announced. The former American footballer and actor, who was one of the most famous people on the globe before being accused of killing his ex-wife in 1994, died aged 76 on April 10.

His cause of death has now been reported as prostate cancer. Malcolm Lavergne, Simpson's attorney and the executor of his estate, told American showbiz website TMZ that the former NFL star's death certificate states he died following a cancer battle, resulting in several months in a hospice.

A statement on April 11 said that Simpson had been surrounded by his children and grandchildren when he died. Simpson rose to fame after a decade in the NFL playing for the Buffalo Bills and San Francisco 49ers. After his football career, Simpson moved into acting, appearing in various films and TV shows such as Naked Gun and The Towering Inferno.
