'Now I can say it' — Sergio Aguero sends Pep Guardiola message on Man City's Phil Foden

Sergio Aguero has urged Pep Guardiola to use Phil Foden more after seeing his 'favourite' Manchester City player change the game against Atletico Madrid this week.

City were dominating proceedings against Atletico in their Champions League first leg, but couldn't find a way through the Spaniards' low block. It only took Foden 80 seconds to make an impact, however, as he assisted Kevin De Bruyne immediately after coming off the bench.

Foden was a surprise omission from the City starting line up against Atletico, with Diego Simeone admitting he expected the youngster to start, but his introduction off the bench did prove to be a match-winning tactic — even if Aguero didn't agree with former boss Guardiola.

After being forced to retire late last year, Aguero can regularly be seen on his Twitch stream, where he will often discuss football matters alongside his gaming. This week, the Argentine reflected on City's win over Atletico as he questioned the 'issue' stopping Guardiola from playing Foden more.

"As always, my favourite player changed the game: Phil Foden," Aguero said (via TyC ). I don't know what the issue is like, but Pep, put him on the pitch a little more. Now that I don't play anymore, I can say it!

"The kid tears it up, I told you. One day you asked me who I liked and I told you Foden."

Aguero's comments come as City confirmed he would be back at the Etihad at the end of the season to celebrate the tenth anniversary since his iconic 2012 Premier League title-winning goal, with a number of events planned to remember the triumph and a statue of Aguero to be unveiled.
