Novak Djokovic sent classy Daniil Medvedev text just 45 minutes after losing to Rafa Nadal

Novak Djokovic has revealed he was sent a classy text message from world No 2 Daniil Mededev just 45 minutes after the Russian had lost the Australian Open final to Rafael Nadal.

Djokovic himself was unable to compete in the event and defend his Grand Slam crown due to his vaccine status, and a declined visa by border control officials.

Upon arriving in Australia, the Serbian was detained in a quarantine hotel in Melbourne for a number of days, before finally being deported by Australian immigration minister Alex Hawke.

With Djokovic not competing, world No 2 Medvedev was tipped as the new tournament favourite, however he fell at the final hurdle to 21-time Grand Slam champion Nadal.

The Russian star found himself two sets up in the final, and one set away from the title.

However, a battling Nadal fought back to win a remarkable three sets on the bounce to make him the most successful male Grand Slam winner of all time.
