Notts County boss explains Langstaff and Scott mindset ahead of Gateshead return

Notts County manager Luke Williams has insisted both Macauley Langstaff and Cedwyn Scott will take no prisoners when they return to former club Gateshead on Tuesday evening.

secured the double signing early on in this summer's transfer window, with the pair scoring 52 goals between them as Mike Williamson's side won promotion from the National League North last campaign.

And Langstaff in particular has impressed since his arrival at Meadow Lane, scoring twice on the opening day against Maidenhead and grabbing an assist for Kairo Mitchell's strike against Boreham Wood on Saturday.

While Williams expects a warm reception for the former Gateshead pair, they may lose some fans along the way should they contribute to the scoreline.

"They want to play against everyone but there is that added thing that it is a former club, and you want to show them how good you are and that is completely natural," said Williams.

"I'm sure the guys are going to be really focused for this one in particular.

"I would be very surprised with anything over than a warm welcome from the beginning because, not just for their contribution which was exceptional, but both of them as men are very likeable guys.

"I'm sure the fans will have had some interaction with them and they can sense the character, but they are here now and committed to us and so, if they have to go and inflict on their former employers, they will and potentially they will lose a few adoring fans along the way."

The Magpies go into the game top of the National League after two fixtures, with no side in the division winning their opening two matches. Notts currently sit on four points along with eight other teams in the league, sharing the same goal difference as second-placed,
