Nottinghamshire all-rounder Joey Evison to join Kent on three-year contract from 2023 season and also available for 2022 Royal London One-Day Cup campaign on loan

An exciting 20-year-old batting all-rounder has agreed to join Kent.

Joey Evison, who will join on a three-year contract from the start of the 2023 season, will also link up with Kent for this season’s Royal London One-Day Cup on loan from current club Nottinghamshire as the competition starts next week.

Evison made his first-class debut in September 2019 and List A bow last July for Notts and, so far, he has five List A and 10 first-class appearances to his name.

In the 2021 Royal London One-Day Cup, he scored a 39-ball 54 against Surrey in a Duckworth-Lewis defeat and took 2-33 against Warwickshire in an 86-run win.

Right-handed Evison played for England alongside soon-to-be Kent team-mates Hamid Qadri and Jordan Cox at the 2020 Under-19 World Cup, scoring 59 off 45 balls in England’s Plate Final against Sri Lanka while also taking three tournament wickets.

He played alongside Kent opener Ben Compton while at Nottinghamshire too.

In his burgeoning first-class career, he scored 109 not out against Sussex earlier this season in Division 2 of the County Championship and he recorded innings figures of 5-21 against Durham in 2021 in the County Championship too.

“I couldn’t be more excited about joining Kent Cricket,” said Evison who made his T20 Blast debut this month for Notts Outlaws and last month signed for Leicestershire on a six-week loan.

“I recognise that I’m still young but I’m hungry for first-team cricket and very much hope I’ll be able to achieve this at Canterbury, as well as helping the team to success in the coming years.”
